I sighed, glancing at the clock as I hurried down the hospital's long corridor. I’d managed to finish my internship shift early, thanks to a mix of luck and efficient patient care. Today was my father’s business party, and though I wasn’t particularly thrilled about it, duty called. Little did I know, fate had other plans before the party even started.
The streets were bustling, Delhi's late-afternoon sun casting warm rays over the city. As I made my way across the road, a loud squeal of tires jolted me to reality. A child had wandered into the path of an oncoming car. Without thinking, I ran, scooping him up just in time. My heart pounded as I hugged the little boy close, bracing myself for impact.
Eyes squeezed shut, I waited... but the crash never came. I hesitantly opened one eye and then the other, and there it was—a sleek black Mercedes G-Wagon, halted mere inches away. My breath caught. A man stepped out, exuding a commanding presence, his chiseled features sharp enough to belong to a Greek god—if Greek gods wore cold, disapproving expressions.
Before I could gather my thoughts, he snapped, “Are you blind? What are you doing in the middle of the road? Do you have a death wish, or did you specifically choose my car for it?”
Embarrassment flooded my cheeks. “I’m so sorry,” I stammered.
He glared, running a hand through his perfectly styled hair, exasperation evident in his piercing blue eyes. “Get lost,” he barked.
I watched, stunned, as he climbed back into his car and drove away, leaving behind a storm of emotions. Who does he think he is? I grumbled, but I couldn’t deny the effect of his intense gaze. Shaking my head, I gathered the boy and led him safely back to his worried mother. With a deep breath, I continued home, trying to forget the arrogant stranger.

Ruhaan's POV
The day had already been taxing, and my mother had called, insisting I return home for some important discussion. I knew what that meant—another attempt to get me married off. I wasn’t interested. Love was a myth, a liability I refused to entertain. But when my father added that tonight’s business party was crucial, I had no choice but to attend.
Driving my G-Wagon through the city, my mind was a swirl of deadlines and responsibilities. Then, out of nowhere, a girl appeared, risking her life for a kid in the middle of the road. I slammed on the brakes just in time, heart pounding at the close call. Annoyed, I stepped out to confront her, but when our eyes met, something strange stirred within me.
Her brown eyes were warm, yet they pierced me in an unfamiliar way. Her lips, parted in shock, looked rosy and inviting. Focus, Ruhaan, I chastised myself. Yet I couldn’t deny the sudden flutter in my chest. I brushed the feeling away, snapping at her. Her apology did little to calm me, so I left, irritated more by my reaction than the situation itself.

Later that Evening
I arrived home, where my parents were waiting. My father, Abhimaan Singh Yaduvanshi, looked up from his phone. “Mr. Raut and his family are attending tonight. You’ll meet them at the party. Go get ready; it’s already 6:30.”
I nodded, sighing. “Alright, Dad. Mom, you had something to say?” I turned to my mother, Suha, who wore a mischievous smile.
“You’ll find out soon enough,” she teased, waving me off. Reluctantly, I headed to my room and changed into a sleek black suit, tailored perfectly to my athletic frame. The black-on-black look was classic and powerful, exactly what I needed to face the evening.

Kiaraa's POV
Back at home, I quickly got dressed in a flowing white dress with a delicate V-neck and a thigh-high slit. As I twirled in front of the mirror, my mother, Arohi, stepped in. Her eyes lit up. “You look stunning, my child,” she beamed.
“Thank you, Mummy,” I replied, feeling a sense of foreboding. Something about tonight felt... different.

The Party
The venue was opulent, decorated in shimmering golds and silvers. Standing beside my parents, I listened as they exchanged pleasantries with Mr. and Mrs. Yaduvanshi. My mind wandered until I heard someone approaching. I turned, and my heart dropped.
Him.
Author’s POV
Ruhaan strode into the party, the embodiment of power in his black suit. His piercing gaze swept over the crowd, but when he saw the girl beside the Rauts, he froze. It was her.
His father’s voice broke the tension. “Ruhaan, meet my dear friends, Vijay and Arohi Raut. And this is their daughter, Kiaraa.”
Ruhaan’s eyes widened. “YOU?” he exclaimed.
Kiaraa mirrored his disbelief. “YOU?”
